Holic Rumor Mill (168)

Yes, I am late, what else is new?

Chapter 168

The distortion brought forth because of the "time that Shaoran rewound", that's Watanuki!! Yuuko's words spin a tragedy!!

If he didn't exist, wouldn't his parents have continued on without dying? Those feelings and regrets become Watanuki's predisposition to attract ayakashi. And at that time when Shaoran faced the clone and was about to die, Watanuki subconsciously tried to protect Shaoran by erasing his own life. That was the cause of the incident where he fell from the school building.

It's no good if Watanuki disappears. It's not only Maru and Moro who thus wish. Responding to the feelings of the several people he's met until now, even Watanuki himself changed to the point of wishing, "I want to be here."

Yuuko: The stronger it's wished for, the stronger it gets.
Along with that child,
the future too will change.

The fact that Watanuki is alone now is something he himself chose. "If Shaoran is alone, I should be as well." However, that memory was given as payment and no longer remains. A few remaining memories exist only because of Fei Wang's curse. (T/N: I'm not sure about this one.) In short, not necessarily all memories are true. The feelings entrusted by his parents into a fake name. "I'll go meet you, without fail." (T/N: This is worded as a quote. Whose and about what, I'm not sure.)

Watanuki's existence is sorrowful, ephemeral, and overflowing with subconscious courage. "I'll go meet you, without fail." His parents' feelings, true!!

To change the future through the feelings of comrades. With everyone, certainly, we can get there!! Wait for the next issue!!

Looks like the mystery around Sakura and Shaoran's absence went up a notch. Also, was Shaoran's condition -that- bad when he first fought the clone? Until Sakura stopped him, I wouldn't have thought he was is that much danger.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the way the explanation about Watanuki's appeal to ayakashi is written, it's almost like a physical change happened because of his survivor's guilt. Would explain why Yuuko said it was his blood.

Thanks for the translation!

So could it be that parents!Syaoran and Sakura didn't actually die, but it's a fake memory? *is hopeful* Didn't Yuuko tell Watanuki waaaay back in the beginning that maybe he'd meet CCS!Sakura?

Poor Watanuki, how the heck can everyone survive and this turn out to be a nicer ending....

You might be late but we still look for you ashura-sama!

Also, was Shaoran's condition -that- bad when he first fought the clone? Until Sakura stopped him, I wouldn't have thought he was is that much danger.
I think it was like that time when C!Sakura was run through instead of Shaoran Jr. We didn't know it was supposed to be him until after the fact. So while it didn't seem like Shaoran Jr. was in any danger, Watanuki must have managed to prevent it before it actually did happen. It isn't that long of a stretch, we know Fei Wong has been trying to kill Shaoran Jr. so he wouldn't interfere.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the way the explanation about Watanuki's appeal to ayakashi is written, it's almost like a physical change happened because of his survivor's guilt. Would explain why Yuuko said it was his blood.
I just want to clarify something, when Doumeki paid his blood as a price, didn't Watanuki get infused with Doumeki's blood? Because if that was the case and we DID look at it that way then the reason for his change would be because he has Doumeki's blood?

[identity profile] lodelco.livejournal.com 2008-10-26 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
The fact that Watanuki is alone now is something he himself chose. "If Shaoran is alone, I should be as well." However, that memory was given as payment and no longer remains.

So THAT was why Watanuki hated Doumeki so much. The truth was I was never really sure until that chapter where Doumeki said he decided to be with Watanuki so he wouldn't be alone and now this! Watanuki must've known, before he lost his memory, of what Doumeki would be to him. Because of his resolve that he should be alone, from the moment he met Doumeki, he did everything he could to make Doumeki hate him.

Wait a minute.

That means he's been crushing on Himawari just so he could get himself killed?

What the hell kind of twisted little child was Watanuki when he was younger?!

Too bad everything Watanuki does seems to attract Doumeki instead of the other way around!

Watanuki is classic CLAMP twisted. If it weren't for the friends he's made in holic, he'd probably be just as miserable as Subaru. It's really annoying that, like Subaru, he ignores the good in his life and continues to think he shouldn't exist. These latest rumors imply that the first 11 volumes of holic don't mean anything to Watanuki. I hate how he's throwing his memories and his life away for Syaoran.

Not really, all those volumes gradually helped to pull him away from the rut he is/was in. Sometimes I think that the only reason Watanuki was able to survive was because he forgot.

Oh god. I think that you got it right O.o

YOU ARE SO CLEVER :D

[identity profile] moonaft.livejournal.com 2008-10-26 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the spoilers.

But didn't Shaoran say he learned about Watanuki from his parents? Is he lying, or is something else going on?

(Anonymous) 2008-10-27 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
His parents foresaw Watanuki's arrival, I would have thought.

(Anonymous) 2008-10-27 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
So Watanuki falling from the window wasn't just Himawari's bad luck?
